February 1st and 2nd, 2003
The 20 volunteers from the Panhandle Bowhunters Association arrived at Eglin Air Force Base on a cold foggy morning on the first weekend in February.
They immediately divided themselves into two groups. One to skin and cut the meat for the mobility impaired hunters and the second group to cook and serve meals for approximately 300 people, consisting of the hunters, guides, volunteers, and various wildlife officers.
By the end of the second day, the hunters had harvested 28 bucks, 10 does, and 12 hogs. The heaviest hog weighed 285 Lbs. and the buck was an 8 point that weighed 168 Lbs. The largest rack buck was a 9 point that weighed 159 Lbs. and registers 130 points B&C.
Thanks for all the volunteers that made this event successful again.
